What Is Tartanology™ Tartan Clothing?
Traditionally tartans were coloured by dye-producing plants, roots, berries and trees local to a specific area and so became known as local clan tartans. With the evolution of modern dyes we can now produce more elaborate patterns and vivid colours in keeping with our traditional yet contemporary designs.
OUR STORY
For over two decades, the name Tartanology has been synonymous with elegant women’s tailoring in the heart of Perth, Scotland. Since 2002, under the visionary guidance of Kairen Alexis Ruse, we have had the privilege of dressing women for life’s most cherished moments, from country pursuits to grand celebrations, all while upholding a deep reverence for Scottish heritage fabrics and bespoke artistry. As we embrace a new chapter, the beloved retail presence on South Street may be closing its doors, but the heart of our craft – the passion for timeless design, the meticulous attention to detail, and the unique connection to Scotland’s rich textile tradition – continues to flourish.

Tartanology™ is a tartan Collection inspired by the rich history of Scotland. The Collection has been designed taking influence from heritage fabrics with classic tailoring in a wide range of tartans.
Tartan plays a huge part in the traditions and ceremonies and has been worn as a proud symbol of Scotland for centuries, which is why we have created Tartanology™ as a tribute to this wonderful country.
