The Architecture
of
Tartan & Couture

The Architect of Cloth

Kairen Alexis Ruse treats fabric like building material. Every garment is engineered to support and enhance the female form.

Rejecting the ‘soft’ approach to a fabric whether it is tartan tweed or silk, we favour architectural precision. In the quiet rigour of the Madderty atelier, we do not chase trends. We pursue the perfect line, the exacting check-match, and a silhouette that commands the room.

Bespoke Commissions

From the moment the fabric is unfurled on the cutting table to the final hand stitched finish, our process is one of absolute refusal to compromise.

We accept a limited number of private clients per season to ensure every garment receives the architect’s full attention.

The Madderty Atelier

A sanctuary of silence and craft. Away from the noise of the high street, we work with a singular focus: to engineer garments that stand the test of time. Here, the only deadline is perfection.

Structural Fabric Engineering

To tailor is to build. Using traditional fusing, the construction and rigorous internal architecture ensure a coat must stand up before it is even worn. This is engineering rendered in silk and wool.

The Line is Everything

Inspired by the Outlander ruggedness of our Scottish heritage and refined by the precision of classical couture.

“When creating my collections, I draw inspiration and details from the past, bringing them into the present day”

Kairen Alexis Ruse, Founder & Creative Director.
